Discipline on the part of the children: A child is disciplined if he or she is unable to keep the rules and regulations that make him fit for a particular academic environment.
Morally speaking, the set of rules and regulation a child is compelled to will shape his or her behavioural pattern largely at school but conditionally at home. Since the home is under a different authority, the parents must strive to ensure rule established at home. A child may change his or her behaviour at home if not well monitored. The parent or guardians reserve the authority to enforce the rules at home or further promotes the rules and regulations made at school.
DETERMINANTS OF A CHILD’S STATE OF DISCIPLINE IN SCHOOL
- Family Background: Children from carefree or broken homes, and the financial conditions of the parents or guardians will determine their level of discipline in School
- Parent teacher relationship: Friendly or hostile
- Peer influence: Who are the children playmates?
- Influence from the teacher: Who are the child looking up to?
- The physical condition of the children: Is the child sound enough in the body and mind?
- Discipline on the part of the teachers: A teacher is disciplined when he or she can make the students keep rules and regulation in school.
A teacher should be able to lead by example especially by keeping the standard of rules and regulations he or she tries to compel the children to keep. Children believe more in what their teachers do than what they say. Again, the school also has rules it expects the teachers to keep. Thus, a teacher is also describe as disciplined when he keeps the rules and regulations of the school management.

- Corporal punishment
- Rebuke: this means to tell the student to desist from wrong acts
- Suspension: This is the sending of a child from school for a period of time
- Expulsion: Total dismissal of a child from school
